🌟 My name is Gerry Teldon. I am 101 years old, and I am still walking.
Five years ago, I made a promise to myself and to the children of San Miguel: as long as I could put one foot in front of the other, I would walk to raise money so they would not know the pain of hunger. Each year since, I’ve committed to walk the number of kilometers that matches my age. This year, that means 101 kilometers.
I’ll walk most of those kilometers in the weeks leading up to the event, and on October 26 I will proudly join the Walk • Run • Bike for Food to complete the last 3 kilometers surrounded by friends, families, and supporters.
Walking has taught me patience, resilience, and gratitude. Fundraising has taught me that none of us can do it alone. Each step I take is powered by the generosity of people like you , people who believe that every child deserves a free school lunch meal and a hopeful future.
Last year, I was deeply honored to receive a special award from Feed the Hungry San Miguel. But the true reward for me is knowing that, together, we’ve provided thousands of hot, nutritious meals to schoolchildren who would otherwise spend a full day in school on an empty stomach.
At 101, I don’t take anything for granted. Each day is a gift, and I want to use mine to make sure children here in San Miguel can grow up strong, healthy, and ready to learn.
I invite you to support my walk this year. Your donation will not only encourage me to keep going, step after step, but will also feed the children who are the future of this community.
